The Institute of Industrial Engineers is the world's largest professional society dedicated solely to the support of the industrial engineering profession and individuals involved with improving quality and productivity.

Founded in 1948, IIE is an international, non-profit association that provides leadership for the application, education, training, research, and development of industrial engineering.

Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES)

Member of the OU student chapter of the HFES are interested in human factors and ergonomics. The students represent disciplines across campus that include psychology, industrial engineering, computer science, health and sports sciences, interior design, educational psychology, occupational therapy and anthropology.

The society's objective is to promote the discovery and exchange of knowledge concerning the characteristics of human beings that are applicable to the design of systems and devices of all kinds.

Institute of Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)

INFORMS serves the scientific and professional needs of operations research and management science investigators, scientists, students, educators, and managers as well as the institutions they serve, by such services as publishing a variety of journals that describe the latest OR/MS methods and applications and by organizing professional conferences.

INFORMS also serves as a focal point for OR/MS professionals, permitting them to communicate with each other and to reach out to other professional societies and the varied clientele of the profession's research and practice.
