Biography
Dr. Wayne Jones serves as the Center Chief Systems Engineer, and Chief of the Science and Engineering Division, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma.
Dr. Jones earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Langston University, Langston, Oklahoma in 1973. In January 1974 Dr. Jones began his professional career as a systems engineer for Boeing Computer Services, Wichita, Kansas. He was employed in November 1974 as a systems engineer by Honeywell Inc., in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Jones had a number of assignments related to large/super computer development. During his career with Honeywell Dr. Jones completed a Master of Science Degree in Systems Engineering from Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona in 1977. April 1979, Dr. Jones accepted a systems engineering position at Codex, Corporation, Tempe, Arizona. While at Codex, he was a principal designer of micro-system software.
Dr. Jones began his federal career in August 1980, at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. From August 1980 to July 1985, he was a project engineer for cruise missile software. From July 1985 to July 1991, Dr. Jones was assigned first level to senior level management positions in support of embedded computer software for center assigned cruise missiles and aircraft systems. During the period July 1991 through December 1992, he was assigned as the Chief Engineer for the B-1B weapon system.
Dr. Jones has been Center Chief Systems Engineer and Chief of the Science and Engineering Division since July 1991. His current responsibilities include overall policy development and support of engineering and technical management functions for the center. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Industrial Engineering May 2001 at The University of Oklahoma.
He is a member of several advisory boards that include The University of Oklahoma Industrial Engineering Advisory Board, Oklahoma Christian University Engineering Executive Council, Oklahoma Engineering Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Center for Aircraft Systems/Subsystems and Infrastructure (CASD).
