John A. Kenney

Attorney (McAfee and Taft)
Member of the Advisory Board

Biography

As an attorney with McAfee & Taft's Intellectual Property Practice Group, John Kenney's works on cases involving intellectual property, product liability, and other technical and scientific issues.

Mr. Kenney received his bachelor of science degree in Industrial Engineering from OU. Before attending law school, he worked as a manufacturing engineer with Westinghouse Electric Corporation and as a project engineer with University Associates, Inc. His IE education and industrial experience, he says, helped him "develop an expertise for the trial of cases involving technical and scientific issues." Respected by the community and other lawyers, he is the president of the Oklahoma County Bar Association and has been named its Outstanding Member. He has served as Temporary Judge for the Oklahoma Court of Appeals and is on the Magistrate Judge Selection Committee for the Federal Court of Appeals.

He is proud of the public service opportunities his position has afforded. In addition to serving on the board of his church and the executive committee of the Oklahoma Blood Institute, he is also past president and a board member of Christmas in April, a group which renovates homes for low-income elderly citizens.

Remarks about his college classmates reveal the wide range of opportunities available to industrial engineers. "Among my classmates are an industrial engineering manager, a CEO of a major communications company, a research scientist and inventor, an expert witness, and a former governor of Oklahoma. This group of interesting and varied careers points out the value of the broad-based training one gets in industrial engineering."
